Hello Gregg, tell us about your new website …

“Do you know how non-smokers can really become evangelical when they smoke? Well, with health and fitness, I’ve really become that way. I’m 55 years old and I’m the fittest I’ve ever been.

“Very often we sit together for interviews and people ask me a lot about my weight loss path and my fitness. So it was clear to me that there was a lot of interest and that I had always dreamed of switching to fitness. “

Gregg changed his body through exercise and a healthy diet

You lost a huge four stone. How did you feel before you started weight loss?

“I was scared because My doctor told me that if I didn’t change anything, I would die because my cholesterol was so high. “

“So it started there, and then there were a couple of motivating factors along the way. Meeting with my beautiful, dear wife [Anne] who is much younger than me. I thought she’s obviously fine to have an old boyfriend, or an old husband now – but there’s no reason she should have an old fat husband! To be honest, I wanted to be fit and healthy, I’m 22 years older than her.

“The other was Meeting with my PT Danny Raiwho wrote the exercise programs on my website. He really put me in a good position. I said to him, ‘Listen, I’m in my fifties now’ and he said, ‘You can have the body you want at any age.’ I can laugh with him, and he never gave me that scientific stuff – he just made me feel more responsible for myself. “

What does your wife Anna think of your transformation?

“I’m really lucky because she likes me and doesn’t care one way or another. She warned me not to get too muscular because she doesn’t like the veins. She said, ‘I don’t mind who you are unless you are unhealthy.’ “

What are your motivational tips for losing weight?

“We all start a fitness and health journey with as much motivation as we need – the fact that we are starting it is motivation enough.

“More important are the psychological tools that you need to avoid giving up when things go wrong – because Let me tell you it’s gonna go wrong. None of us can live for a month, two months, three months as if we were living in a monastery.

“We go out, drink too much, eat a kebab, eat a take-away curry, eat an even bigger piece of our buddy’s birthday cake. It’s going to happen – you need the psychology of what to do when that happens. so you don’t give in. “

Gregg Wallace’s four stone journey from A to B wasn’t a straight line, it walked around a couple of McDonald’s drive-ins, it stopped at a couple of kebab shops, and it hit more pubs than they should have, but it got there. What I got from the psychologist on my website, Dr. Kevin Dutton, what I’ve learned, is that most of the time it’s good to be good. “

“We have to live right – there is no way I go to rugby or drink beer. It would be like washing my feet with my socks. It just won’t happen.”

Gregg is training at home during the lockdown

How often do you workout?

“For the past three years I’ve trained five days a week. Monday to Friday is serious and Saturday and Sunday are just fun – I like to go swimming, but it’s still a sport.

“When I film MasterChef out of lockdown, I go to my PT near the studio. Otherwise he gives me a routine and changes it three to four times a year. There are six 30 minute exercises on the website and none of them require any equipment at all.

“When I went to a gym a little fat, I was confident.”

Who cooks at home

“During the lockdown, I made lunch for the family every day. Anne is – and I’m including MasterChef winners here – Anne is one of the best amateur chefs I have ever met in my life. Your food and cooking is amazing. “

Will Anna be part of a cooking show in the future?

“Well, she was on Loose Women with me and I had to hold her hand. She hates the spotlight and doesn’t want anything to do with it. She’ll do it if it helps me, but she really doesn’t want to do it.”

Sid helps dad in the kitchen

Is your one year old son Sid interested in cooking?

“Sid is in the kitchen a lot – and he’s already stirring everything in pans. When he’s finished eating in the high chair, he’ll happily sit with an adult fork on my lap or on his grandfather’s lap and start eating our food. “
