Trampolines may seem like a blast from the past, but we’re excited to announce that they are here to stay. In fact, they have become a real exercise tool.
The benefits of using the mini versions of your favorite backyard activity from your childhood are pretty impressive for the whole body. Hopping on the machine doesn’t take long to get your heart rate up, and there’s no denying that floating in the air for a few seconds is more fun than doing basic cardio on the ground.
“When I teach my trampoline workout classes, I refer to them as ‘Smart and Fun Fitness,'” says Claire Lo Russo, certified trainer and founder of Carve It Fitness. “The benefits are incredible and it’s training and wellness from the inside out. Every time you train on a trampoline, every muscle in your body is being used. ”
While there is some misconception about trampolines and their effects on the body, Russo explains that there is nothing to worry about. “Using a trampoline for exercise gives the body the opportunity to be free and relieves the joints,” she explains. “The mat absorbs the pressure – you just have to keep your knees properly bent.”
How to choose the best training trampoline
️ Look for a bungee based trampoline. Avoid trampolines with metal springs. These put a strain on your joints. Instead, look for trampolines with a bungee system or cords. “The bungee material is softer and more yielding, which makes the training more challenging. “The tighter or harder the mat, the less bounce you get,” explains Russo.
️ Find out the size. If you are planning on using a trampoline in a small apartment, your best bet is to resort to a small and foldable pimple. “If someone wants to exercise in front of the TV, I recommend a 39-inch device,” says Russo. If you have a back yard, you can take advantage of the space and opt for something larger, like a 44-inch that gives you room for more advanced movements.
️ Ride with or without a handlebar. “I know the handlebars look supportive and helpful, but I didn’t recommend using them,” says Shaina McGregor, professional dancer and trainer at the Ness in New York City. “I’ve never seen someone fall while teaching beginner classes and the handlebars can interfere with training and freedom of movement,” she explains. So instead of grabbing the handlebars, try a regular fitness trampoline first (maybe with someone nearby to help you out in case you lose your balance) and then decide if you want to add a handlebar for extra support.
Are you ready to step up your cardio routine and strengthen your entire body? Add one of these top-notch training trampolines to your workout and you will see the results in no time.
